Is there a train from Casablanca to Marrakech?

Yes. When the doubled and renovated Casablanca–Marrakech line reopened in November 2018, ONCF ran a train every two hours with a journey time of 2 h 32, down from 3 h 35. Trains leave from Casa Voyageurs. The Al Boraq high-speed trains don't reach Marrakech: they run Tangier–Rabat–Casablanca. Check oncf.ma for the current timetable and fares.

And the bus?

CTM runs direct coaches between the two cities. Omio lists the coach route at 220 km, with an average of 2 h 56 and the fastest departures at 2 h 45 (checked October 2026). Coaches use CTM's own stations in both cities, so add a taxi at each end.

When is the private car the better choice?

  • You're landing at CMN: the car leaves from the arrivals hall, about 2 h 30 to Marrakech, from 1,900 MAD per vehicle. By train you first ride into Casablanca and change.
  • You're three or more with luggage: one price per vehicle, not per seat.
  • Your riad is in the medina: the driver gets you to the nearest gate the car can reach.
  • You want to stop on the way, or travel outside the train times.
